Primers: A necessity or marketing ploy?

By definition, primers act to prep the skin for foundation by smoothing, moisturizing, or even by claiming to keep your skin mattified throughout the day. Most pertain to a silicone base and has been around the market as a must in controlling oil and an enabler in maximizing the duration of your make-up wear time. I am however, not an avid believer just yet. I have tested out a few in my day (Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch, MAC Prep + Prime Line filler, Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer) and all have fallen short to their ridiculous claims.

If you adhere the principles of a primer, simply a well formulated moisturizer should suffice.

This flat iron was purchased through Folica.com which is quite an established online retailer for all kinds of hair-care products and even though I had paid 20$ in shipping costs, I was happy that it arrived only in 3 days. Three days is quite short considering that I live in Canada and due to past experiences that have proven 3 weeks is a standard; it was definitely a bonus.

I paid around $174 USD for ALL, and I mean ALL products that you see above and considering the iron alone now costs $150 I thought I had found a gold mine! Not to mention folica was having a promotion where I receive an additional travel size flat iron by Solia, which I heart! Unfortunately, this package deal is no longer available; however, I can't stress enough that this iron alone is worth it's price.

The specifications can be acquired through the website so that detail I will leave out. Some notable initial thoughts were that it is made of solid material and feels as though it'll withstand wear and tear very well. I particularily love that it has a temperature gauge to customize accordingly depending on the condition of your hair. It's function however is what I'm loving most about this product the most. It heats up in 30 secs or less and it absolutely does not snag, pull or break my hair. It also curls faster than any other curling iron! I do admit that it is more difficult to achieve uniform curls throughout your hair although I think it can be worked out through practice and play considering it is entirely dependent on your technique; not the iron.

This is a product that I believe is worth every cent. After my little quibble last post regarding most cosmetics products and its worth vs price; I do hope that you don't get me wrong in that I am a money hoarding snob with unrealistic expectations. I am all for spending the money if I believe is worth the price.

What can I say, bargains make me happy.
In truth, I'm not a believer of the motto "paying for what you get" because more often than not..I've found myself thoroughly disappointed by products that have been categorized as worthy of the luxury title. The only main difference that luxury based items have over drugstore/inexpensive product is the attention to detail in the packaging which lets be honest, sums up the larger portion of the total cost of a cosmetic product. I would be lying to myself if I hadn't told you that yes, I feel FAB and GLAMOURouS when I apply a Tom Ford, YSL, Cle de Peau l/s, not to mention the minor lift in our perception of self-worth but the reality remains that the focus should be on the translation after the product has made its way back into the safe haven of our purse, hidden.

Anyways, onto the main subject of this post. I wanted to rave about the Sally Hansen's lip tint that I purchased for $2 each. Although I must say that it's more of a gloss rather than a tint of any kind because the colors are extremely sheer. However, If I had 10 thumbs, it would definitely be 10 thumbs UP in my books and here's why:

• Non-sticky gloss
• delicious rasberry/watermelon flavor/scent
• Super moisturizing
• CHEAP!
• Average longevity.

Again, I will mention it's ability to smooth and moisturize regardless of the dry/flakey condition it was prior to application. I find it more as an ultra lip smoothing treatment for the lips! mm mm mm!

Wallet friendly polishes!!

Joe is a Clothing/Beauty division that you can find in Superstores throughout Canada. Superstore is a store where people would generally go for competitive pricing on grocery and foods; however, being the beauty junkie that I am..will always sly my way into the cosmetics department to scope out the goodies and good thing I did because I found this steal!

• Opaque in 2 coats.
• Beautiful spring/summer colors.
• 3 for $10 or 4$ each.

The application can be a bit tricky though. The brush is a little less forgiving in providing a smooth finish. A top coat is definitely recommended to provide the shine that the polish alone would not render.

All in all, quite happy with the purchase...=D

Review: GOSH Darling Lipstick

If you're looking for a nude lipstick, this one definitely deserves consideration. The color itself resembles very much like my own skin and the application is a delight. It does not settle into fine lines and offers a very smooth and creamy application. The only negative comment I can say about this product is the smell. It does pertain to that plastic cheaper drugstore lipstick reminder, but it can easily be masked by a yummy gloss.

Review: Viva Glam Gaga

I became aware of this lipstick through the many YT gurus. I'm not much of a lady Gaga fan to be honest just because I find her to be on an overly extreme end of the spectrum. I have however been on a ride of lipstick obsession and felt the need to indulge. It is a shade very close to a true pink. I have no doubtedly been on a hunt for the perfect pink for quite some time now but unfortuantely my quest still continues..it's not as flattering as I had hoped it would be on my skin tone...*lonnngg face*

Many claim that it's a wearable pink but I find that it still falls under the category of a statement color; definitely not appropriate for the professional work environment. It is a lustre finish meaning it does apply sheer but is still buildable..
